Mon 4 Oct • 6:00 – 8:30 pm • Beginner welding workshop Learn the basics of gasless MIG welding.This hands-on single session metalworking workshop willintroduce members of the maker community to the basics of gasless MIG welding.This workshop covers the applications, usage and settingup of a MIG welder to perform a fillet and butt weld.Perfect for beginners looking to weld for the first-time, orthose who have taken a break from metalworking and are looking for a chance torefresh their skills and get back in the workshop. Important info Do not wear polyester or any flammable clothing to the event. Please do not wear contact lenses but glasses are fine. Enclosed footwear is also mandatory. If you have a welding helmet and/or welding gloves that you could bring along to the course it would be greatly appreciated. You are encouraged to bring along some steel lying around to use in the class if possible. All sessions take place on-site at Makerspace Adelaide withsmall group sizes and direct instruction from an experienced metal-worker, cost is inclusive of all materials. Mon 18 Oct • 6:00 – 9:00 pm • Beginner metalworking workshop Learn the basics of using a metal lathe and start machining your own metal fittings, tools, replacement parts and more! This hands-on single session metalworking workshop will introduce members of the maker community to the basics of turning using a metal lathe. Learning to use the metal lathe is a valuable skill for anyone wanting to start metalworking, a metal lathe allows for precision cutting and carving of a variety of alloys and metals. This workshop covers the applications and usage of a metal lathe, explains basic tool geometry, and demonstrates how to face off and turn to a diameter using the lathe. Perfect for beginners looking to use the lathe for the first-time, or those who have taken a break from metalworking and are looking for a chance to refresh their skills and get back in the workshop. Mon 25 Oct • 6:00 – 8:30 pm • Intermediate metalworking workshop Learn more about using a metal lathe and start machining your own metal fittings, tools, replacement parts and more! This hands-on single session metalworking workshop will introduce members of the maker community to the some intermediate aspects of turning using a metal lathe. This workshop covers the 4 jaw chuck, centre drill, boring and parting off. Perfect for those with some experience with the use of a lathe, or those who have taken a break from metalworking and are looking for a chance to refresh their skills and get back in the workshop. Important info All sessions take place on-site at Makerspace Adelaide with small group sizes and direct instruction from an experienced metal-worker, cost is inclusive of all materials. Participants must have previously completed a Metalwork Induction Session at Makerspace Adelaide. Participants must also have completed an Introduction to the metal lathe course OR have previous experience using the metal lathe. Places are limited and bookings are essential. |

InductionsTo get started using some of our Makerspace facilities, we require a brief Induction. A member of our Volunteer Team will give you all the information you need to use our equipment safely and effectively.
